The Rotary Club of Colonial Park Foundation awarded $42,500 to four high school seniors at the Rotary Clubs weekly meeting on June 7, 2017.

The Rotary Club of Colonial Park Foundation awarded $42,500 to four high school seniors at the Rotary Clubs weekly meeting on June 7, 2017. Randy Sibert, President of the Rotary Club of Colonial Park Foundation presented scholarships to Benjamin Monaco and Jazmyne Quijano, Dauphin County Technical School, for $5,000 each to Harrisburg Area Community College; $10,000 to Larry Vega, Dauphin County Technical School, for an engineering scholarship and $21,000 to Jordae Moore, Dauphin County Technical School, for a two year nursing scholarship at Harrisburg Area Community College. Katie Stadler from Central Dauphin High School won the $1,500 Act of Kindness scholarship.

In the past two years, the Rotary Club of Colonial Park Foundation has awarded $80,500 in scholarship to senior students in the Central Dauphin School District. Randy Sibert, President of the club’s foundation said, “this goes to show the dedication our Rotary Club has to helping students as they enter college.”

The Rotary Club of Colonial Park also awarded five $1,000 is scholarships to Olivia Ramsey from Central Dauphin East High School, Jackson Tenny from Central Dauphin High School, Lydia Smeltz from Central Dauphin High School, Isaac Fetterhoff from the Dauphin County Technical School and Kyla Brzitski from Bishop McDevitt High School.

The Rotary Club of Colonial Park raises the funds for the scholarships from their annual Norman P. Hetrick golf tournament and generous donations from members of the club. The golf tournament has raised $173,983 in scholarships for students in the Central Dauphin School District to attend Harrisburg Area Community College since 2009. Twenty-four students have benefited from this scholarship. This is the second year the club has awarded the engineering and nursing scholarships.

Students in the Central Dauphin School District interested in learning more about the club’s scholarship program for 2018 can obtain information in the Fall at the annual college fair.
